Not as lightweight as you think! February 4, 2010 L. Greenslade (Uk) I bought this dyson thinking that as it was lighter and slimmer than the original it would be better for me as I suffer from severe back problems. How wrong I was! It is not light, let's make that perfectly clear. It is extremely good at picking up pet hairs though and it works very well even though I have had it almost 2 years. If you intended to buy one thinking it was light and easy to use, don't be fooled, it is hard work to push and even harder to lift.
Saying that, I would recommend a dyson to anyone who has children and or pets as it is very good at cleaning up.
Does its job well May 22, 2009 Mr. F. D. Leach (UK) My cleaner prior to this one was a Dyson DC07.
The 'pro's' -
The DC18 is noticeably less heavy than the DC07 but is by no means 'lightweight'.It is good for reaching under furniture and is a very effective cleaner. The finger-tip brush setting is excellent.
The 'con's' -
Not impressed with the ball mechanism. The handtools are dinky - my old DC07 tools will fit so I use them instead.
DYSON DC18 April 17, 2009 Stephen W. Wootton (Britain) This hoover is perfect if you are a weight lifter, and under 50 yrs of age. Its really quite difficult to manoeuvre. Its also very plasticy, you cant risk standing on the pedal to hard in case it breaks of.
BUT HAVING SAID THAT IT DOES SUCK WELL,and that really does sum it up. IT SUCKS.
once u have a dyson u will always want 1 April 5, 2009 deedeenone (UK) Had an earlier model dyson dc04, used it for 3 years then decided to give it away as I dont have much carpet !!!!
There was nothing wrong with it.
Have since had a number of cheap vacums to help keep dust at bay on my laminate floors!!! :-) Nothing and I do mean nothing is as good as a dyson.
Got real annoyed at lose of suction etc ( had a vax, hoover and a henry none was any good)
So decided to invest in a new dyson. Checked reviews and decided on dc18
Wow!!! I had almost 4 got how good they are!!
Onboard tools r excellent easy to use, excellent around the home and even did a great job with vacuming the car!!
The brush bar thingy beats the carpet, so result is the lil bit of carpet I do have looks new again !!
AND with a simple press of a button brush bar is off and vacuming my floors without marking the finish!
Overall would recommend, cant pass comment on pet hairs as no pets but do have asthma sufferers and they seem a lil better :-)
only 1 small prob needs emptying frequent, but is this really a bad idea, do we really want dust, dead skincells etc sitting in your vacum 4 long periods lol
Good buy

Nice Little Mover Gives a Mighty Good Suck! March 22, 2009 Professor Paradox (The Rock and Rolling Hills of Somerset) I never thought I'd look forward to cleaning day when I can get out my little Dyson and get down on to the carpet, but this little babe is really something.
She's so light and moves so well, doing the cleaning is like dancing with a really cool chick and the only reason she's a bit slow sometimes is the awsome suction pulling me down into the deep shag pile of my carpet. She's great on any surface, handles well, good under the table, and I just love using my crevice tool!
If only this machine could get stains off fabrics...........
