new model is better August 3, 2010 Barbara S I recently bought this item after reading the rave reviews, and I regret it. The new model is cheaper and better, - among other things the new model has a USB connection for viewing photos etc on your tv, and 3D compatibility for the future.
won't play blue ray disks now July 23, 2010 annorax i have had this model for just over a year now. it worked perfect till this week when the blue ray playback suddenly stopped. i done some research yesterday on the internet and found out that it is the firmware that is at fault as a lot of people are having similar problems with this model and similar sony models to this one.
A good, reliable blu-ray player June 28, 2010 SuPeRsOnIc I have had this for a while now. I cannot comment on the quality of playback as I only have conventional televisions at home (I won this player).
Therefore, I will comment on the functions.
The player takes about 10-15 seconds to start up.
It has an interface similar to that of the PS3.
You can update it via an ethernet cable, and I have updated it once so far, it worked fine.
The skip function allows you to skip 10, 20 or 30, etc seconds at a time, however it is quite slow, well too slow to be honest. However, the normal fast forward function is also available along with the usual chapter forward/rewind function.
The player itself is quite stylish looking, I can't complain about the appearance, although I can't help but wonder how much better it would look in black.
There's not much else to say. The remote control is quite light and feels a bit cheap, but works absolutely fine.
There ARE newer, better, more stylish players out there but I would certainly not hesitate too much in recommending this player!
Good but does not do all it says it does (easily) April 24, 2010 Mr. Wol Wallace (UK) There is no doubt that this is a high quality CD player and it certainly does improve the picture quality of my older non Blu-Ray disks however following a trip to my local film rental shop it does not play certain Blu-Ray offerings which is rather annoying as this is what I bought it for.... I think this may be down to loading more recent software off the internet which I have not got down to as the handbook (as usual) is written by somebody who knows what to do but does not know how to explain it very well for the average person (not helped by the fact that I have a Mac and the download requires a PC). The seller who I bought it off was not particularly helpful and suggested I contacted Sony ......groan. Suggest buying a newer version of this player would probably help

For the first time since I started using Amazon have I been this unlucky, Firstly I did not receive what I ordered. I did not get a Sony Blu ray player BDPS350 instead I was sent a BDPS300 without a remote control. I cannot work this thing without a remote control, the seller later sent me a PS3 remote control, I have searched the whole internet to see if it is possible to use this remote control for this player and there is nothing to suggest one can use this remote control on this player. My seller has gone quiet I dont know what to do. I paid a lot of money for this second hand player and I feel robbed, maybe Amazon can help me on this problem.
