 Not a good choice where DAB reception is poor July 28, 2010

I bought this to replace our rather large Roberts DAB radio. The Roberts keeps needing to be reset, but does a reasonable job of picking up stations where we live in Bracknell, where (at our house) DAB reception is difficult. It may be the trees in the garden get in the way or that we live down a dip; either way DAB reception is a disaster and if it's this bad 30 miles from London it doesn't augur well for the rest of the country when they switch off analogue services... The Roberts had in turn replaced an earlier more expensive PURE model, which had lovely sound but also struggled to find stations. Anyway, the PURE ONE couldn't find a single BBC DAB station, so I gave it to my parents who live in Hull. It works fine there. Sound quality is OK but nothing special.

I bought this radio with the optional "chargePak" and strongly recommend you do the same IF like me you move it around the house a lot. The live radio pause and rewind feature is also very cocky! :)
Build quality, reception, and features are excellent for the price. Would recommend it.

The Pure DAB radio was a gift and the recipient is very pleased with it.

The DAB radio works well for approximately half an hour and then fades away until it tells you that the station is not available. Sometimes it comes back after a few minutes and sometimes not. I've tried it plugged in and just on the re-chargeable battery pack - makes no difference. I've tried it in different rooms - no difference.
The radio is now going back to Amazon for repair or replacement.
I shall try to update this when I get news from Amazon on what they propose to do.
I've given this 3 stars as the radio seems very good when it's working and I'm assuming that there is a fault with the radio. If it's replacement is no better then it will be 0 stars.
 PURE Quality Issue July 22, 2010

I ordered this item as I was fan of PURE having owned BUG II this was second PURE ONE CLASSIC I had ordered as previous one from another source was faulty (volume switch did not work and swirched itself off after 10 mins) could not update firmware even if connected to mains. This was my second PURE CLASSIC in space of a few weeks and it also did not work, buzzing sound could not listen to anything....back it went and also my faith in PURE as a brand. I have since bought a ROBERTS ECO 1 and its great, built in charger and sound is better than PURE. It does not look as good but looks are not everything! Very disappointed in PURE.
