What Automatic Setting? September 4, 2010 ChrisG I didn't have this Clock/Radio long enough to be able to review it properly. It looks decent enough, especially for the price. I don't know how bright the display is, nor how the radio sounds, as I never got round to applying power to the unit.
This clock is described as automatic setting, (The technical details of the clock show the time setting as being radio controlled). This is very misleading. The UK version of the clock does not receive time signals from Anthorn (used to be Rugby). What happens with the UK versions, is that they are supplied with the battery backup cell already installed and the time is factory set. European versions of the clock are automatic and receive time signals from their associated transmitter.
I must say this is very naughty of Sony as the only indication of this is on the inside flap of the box. Needless to say that on seeing that the clock was factory set on the inside flap, that the clock was returned.
Great! August 23, 2010 Little_red_7 Fantastic little clock, can set a buzzer or radio to start as an alarm
and it even remembers the time through a powercut so no need to worry about that
good clear display and great signal and very easy to
an fantastic clock
if your looking for a radio alarm clock get this its great quality for the price
Dimmed to Death August 14, 2010 Mr. Cmpilgrim After only a couple of years, the display on this clock radio is so dim that it cannot be seen clearly, even at night, which makes having a long-life backup battery and a 99-year calendar chip pointless. It is now unusable.
Cheap and cheerfull. August 13, 2010 K. Bailey (Cambridge, UK) After having 2 more modern alarm clocks go bad on me I decided to go back to the basics. The led face is not too bright and the time automatically sets it's self. I could only find two critical points. 1. Getting the radio tuned could be a bit of a pain though that could be down to my area's signal strength. 2. The build quality was cheaper than imagined, having owned a 1980's version of the Dream Machine which was a solid heavy glossy plastic body this model feels like it would defintly break if knocked off the bedside table. Overall for the price I think it was a good investment.
Great value for price! August 11, 2010 MrG I just wanted a simple alarm clock with radio, and I didn't want to spend much. This was perfect! It's very easy to use, simple and nice design. Setting the alarm with or without radio is dead easy and quick.
Totally recommended!
