Not bad Morphy Richards but July 27, 2010 Mr. Glen P. Livesey (UK) It makes wonderful coffee, the auto timer is great, whether its just a couple of cups or a whole pot the quality is the same, the one touch button start is good and filling the coffee hopper couldn't be easier so why the but? A couple of down sides to this product is the awkward position for filling the water reservoir. It's a very small target to hit early in the morning and there have been a couple of occasions water got spilt a little too close to the power supply. Simple solution is to keep it away from the power supply but you still get water on work surfaces. The auto timer is easy to use but hard to see unless illuminated by direct or bright light. There is no back up battery for the clock so if thr power is interrupted both thr clock and the auto timer need to be reset.
All this said though the product is really good value for money and I would recommend most anybody to buy one.
Great coffee machine. July 19, 2010 Ashley Walden I've now used this coffee machine for over three months and found no issues with it at all. It works, is easy to clean, makes great coffee.
I was a little concerned at first reading other reviews regards filling with water and bad taste. Having now used the coffee machine I've drawn my own conclusions.
There is no problem with filling the machine with water. The inlet is more than large enough and if you struggle then I recommend you not enter a kitchen.
Regards bad taste, smell. Not experienced this issues I can only think the users must not be use to filter coffee.
Great coffee machine. Would recommend.
THE coffee maker July 9, 2010 P. C. Jacobs (Dorset) This was bought to replace an older MR model. We are delighted with the product and low price, would reccomend to anyone.
Morphy Richards 47070 Programmable Coffee Maker Stainless Steel June 12, 2010 Mr. J. Morris (Manchester, UK) Was given to me as a gift new, read the instructions carefully, ran a full jug of water through it as instructed, it was very tricky to get the water in, there is a narrow reservoir to the right hand side, like the idea of setting it to make the coffee in the morning, although not sure that the coffee would taste nice with water and coffee in the machine all evening, the smell was awful, chemicals or something, then made a full pot of coffee, this tasted like TCP, it took 20 full jugs of water to get rid of this taste, finally was okay, worked like a dream for 2 weeks, one morning got up, and the display screen was blank, checked the fuse, replaced the fuse, plugged it in and it came back on, strange smell again, worked one last time, following morning same issue, replaced the fuse, and nothing, dead, this was only 3 weeks old, now in the bin. As this was a gift I do feel obliged to replace it, but I have little faith the replacement will do any better, staff at Morphy Richards were awful to deal with, were not interested in helping as I did not have a receipt (was a gift as mentioned earlier) Even if you do have a receipt you will have to send it to them by post anyway, suppose it's a case of you pay for what you get!
Not a good choice May 28, 2010 Aman I've actually had one of these for a year now and have used it pretty much every day. When you first use it, it does give off a smell of plastic, and it does make the coffee taste plasticy too. That does disappear after you use it a dozen times or so, and then the coffee tastes fine.
The real issue I have had is how fragile the jug is. I have gotten through 4 in a year, and they cost £15 to replace. So over the course of the year, I would have been much better off going for a more expensive but sturdier machine. The jug has just mysteriously broken again in the dishwasher, so I'm giving up and going to try something else.
