5 out of 5 stars Philips BDP3000 Blu-ray Player   July 26, 2010
H. Kirkpatrick (Northern Ireland)
I found the unit easy to use and am delighted in the upgradingPhilips BDP3000 Blu-ray Playermade on standard dvd's which I already have.
The clarity is indeed a vast improvement on a standard dvd player

5 out of 5 stars Excellent player   July 12, 2010

I've recently decided to enter the world of Blu-ray and being a student with a lack of money I went for the Philips player. I have to say I love it. My blu-ray collection is so far tiny but it had no problems with any of them. Even the recently released Princess and the Frog and District 9. DVD's upscale really well too. I've compared upscaled to normal DVD and the difference is clear.

I've had the player about a month now and only today got around to updating the firmware. Took me 5 minutes with a USB.
It was also really easy to set up with my Television.
The player is bulky but it doesn't bother me. I'm not planning on entering it into any beauty pageants.
It is a quiet running machine and loads bluray and DVD's fast. It is easy to navigate with the remote. However most of the buttons are useless unless you have a Philips TV.

I own many region 1 DVD's so it was handy having a player where the region hack was a breeze.
Had no problems at all with it. It is an exceptionally good player for the money I paid.
Only complaint is it has no Wi-Fi ability which means I can't access Bd-live as I'd have to stretch a Ethernet cable up my stairs and possibly risk tripping and killing several family members. But for the price this can be forgiven.

Haven't tried any divX files so can't comment.

For my first venture into blu-ray I am impressed. Definitely recommended.

3 out of 5 stars Phillips BDP3000 Blu-ray Player   July 8, 2010

I purchased this item following a recommendation from a link contained on a DVD Hacks newsletter. My specific interest in the product was that it could be multi-regionalised. The hack contained within the newsletter doesn't work so I have been left with a perfectly adequate player but not for the reasons of purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant Player   July 8, 2010
Kenneth Hawes (Norfolk.England)
This is a brilliant entry level player. Very easy to set up and play, My only criticism you can't use a wi fi dongle to access the internet but you can use a patch cable. You can use a usb flash drive to download updates which you will need when you first set it up. Apart from this I'm very pleased with the player.

5 out of 5 stars very pleased with purchase   July 3, 2010
A. Bernstein (Phoenix, AZ, USA)
Very happy with value, function, price (paid about eighty quid), delivery time, quality, features. Easy to set up. Easy to use. Picture quality is excellent. I chose this because it was the cheapest blue-ray. Not sure why anyone would purchase a more expensive model.
